Taking a Swing at Cancer – the Gayle Hutchison Golf Tournament benefiting St. Mary’s Hospital Center

Gayle Hutchison, determined to make a difference in the lives of patients and while undergoing cancer treatment herself, founded a golf tournament to raise funds for the Oncology Department. “Gayle's focus was always on patient care and making a direct impact on their lives,” says Susan Hutchison, Gayle’s sister and fellow SMHC employee. “Her commitment to the Hospital was truly inspirational. ”Gayle’s friends and family come together every year to celebrate her memory and, to date, have raised close to $ 180,000 for St. Mary’s Community Cancer Care Centre.

Gayle was not only a patient of St. Mary’s Cancer Care Center but a long-time Hospital employee. She also founded the St. Mary’s Daycare which both her children, Kyle and Kelly, attended.

This year the tournament will take place on Saturday, August 27 at the Caughnawaga Golf Club in Kahnawake with proceeds going towards the Oncology Department's Patient Orientation and Quality of Life Programs.
