Message from our Chairman and President & CEO

The reputation St. Mary’s Hospital Center has forged in this city is one of excellence and determination. With the new initiatives that the Foundation launched this year, it is only through collaboration between medical personnel, McGill University, community members, affiliated Hospitals, government and you that these were realized. Your unwavering commitment enables St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation to be the driving force it is today. The truth is, we are all interconnected and the success of our mission lies in the support we give and receive from those around us. And we are deeply appreciative of those whose support has empowered us and permitted us to accomplish all that we have over this past fiscal year. |

St. Mary’s Society
The St. Mary’s Society is an important group of people for both the Foundation and the Hospital. Every year the Society booklet cites the names of individuals (except where they have chosen to remain anonymous) who are members of the Chairman’s Circle (gifting $1,000 or more annually), St. Mary’s Ambassadors (gifting between $250 and $999 annually) and the Heritage Circle. Through their vital contribution, members of the St. Mary’s Society play an active and immediate role in the Foundation’s mission to support the Hospital in providing Healthcare on a Human Scale.
Special Events
Special events are a wonderful opportunity to bring together members of the community. At St. Mary’s, we have two events: The St. Mary’s Masters golf tournament and The St. Mary’s Ball, both a true reflection of who we are.
Girls for the Cure is a student-run charity event which brings together over 2,800 students from six girl’s schools in Montreal who walk together, in a gesture of solidarity in the fight against women-related cancers. Students from ECS, Queen of Angels Academy, Sacred Heart School of Montreal, The Study, Trafalgar School for Girls and Villa Maria walk 5km from school campuses up Mount Royal. This Montreal tradition has raised over $2 million to date for St. Mary’s Community Cancer Centre.
We are also very grateful to the greater Montreal community who, through golf tournaments, dances and other initiatives, provide additional funding for the Hospital’s identified priorities.
Endowment Funds
Endowment Funds are a vital source of funding for St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation. Established through an initial contribution of $100,000 or more, the capital is strategically invested to yield maximum return and the earnings on the investment are distributed to the hospital program for which the fund was created.
Board Members
St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation is honoured to be represented by some of the most visionary leaders in the Montreal business community. We are very pleased to be able to count on our Board Members to lead by example, to foster collaboration, to nurture our commitment, to build on community and to carry our vision for the future. We feel privileged that they have chosen St. Mary’s as their charity of choice and we thank them for devoting themselves in every sense of the word, through time, energy and financial support.
On behalf of this visionary group of leaders, whom we are proud to represent, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to you, who faithfully help us turn our aspirations into accomplishments year after year. The depth of your commitment to our cause never ceases to touch us, motivate us, and make us grow.
So to you, a Heartfelt Thanks…
